So you want the FULL story?

​

After graduating from York University with a B.A. in English Literature and not becoming a English teacher, I enrolled in a few journalism courses at Ryerson (now Toronto Metropolitan University). This led me to writing for Canadian hip-hop music magazine, Urbanology and a now defunct lifestyle web magazine. I did this for a few years and really loved it. But despite my dreams of becoming Danyel Smith, dream hampton, Elliott Wilson, or Mimi Valdes, I realized that being an adult was expensive and free magazines and unreturned calls from Aubrey Graham were not going to pay the bills. So I enrolled in a year-long PR and Corporate Communications program. Three months after graduation, I got a job as a Proposal and Business Communications Writer for a small engineering firm.

 

Four years later, I moved on to write for two of Canada's largest law firms where I sharpened my writing skills, proposal management knowledge and my communications skills. Nothing prepares for life like working with lawyers. Geesh.

I then moved on to an accounting firm before going out on my own during COVID-19. During this time, I ended up doing alot of work for an edtech company and my previous accounting firm. A few years after COVID, I returned to the same engineering firm I worked for to now lead the proposal team.

But outside all of the business writing, I still yearn for a soft place for my creative thoughts to land. The stories that never end in my head. Where writing has no rules. (Ok, maybe some.)

 

Thus, here we are.

 

This site is a place for me to exercise those creative writing muscles and a place for me to post my writing--whatever that may be--on a regular basis. ​
